Concerns For the Texans?
[picappgallerysingle id="9858306"]The Texans are currently 2-1 after their loss to the Dallas Cowboys in week 3 and a lot of people are probably wondering if this team is going to make it to the playoffs this season. They certainly started the season off with a bang against the Colts and Redskins but they dropped an extremely important game the following week against their in state rivals. They are without linebacker Brian Cushing, left tackle Duane Brown, and their pass defense is currently rated dead last in the NFL at 368.7 passing yards allowed per game. In other words, they have been completely toasted. So is there reason to doubt this team? To the average fan there is absolutely a reason to doubt this team; they have never gotten it done. The majority of people across the country will continue to doubt the Texans until they finally do something substantial. That is a fact.
The Texans lost a heart breaker for all those people in Houston that wanted to prove that their team is the best in Texas, but they will travel to Oakland next week to take on the 1-2 Raiders and try to make their record an impressive 3-1 when Brian Cushing returns to the starting lineup. Going 3-1 with arguably one of their top 3 defensive players on suspension is pretty good but the Texans need to beat the Raiders convincingly. They need to fix their problems on defense and have a more balanced attack on offense. So far the two wins the Texans have this season have come when Arian Foster rushed for 231 yards and when Matt Schaub threw for 497 yards. The Texans simply need to be more balanced if they want to stay consistent; they cannot expect their star players to turn in performances like that every week.
The Oakland Raiders are not a bad team this year; Darren McFadden is playing pretty darn well and the Raiders have the 3rd best overall defense. Beating them in their own house like the Cowboys did to us last week would prove that we can come out and win a game on the road when we really want to. The Texans just can’t let mistakes get in the way of them beating the Raiders and falling to 2-2 after such a spectacular 2-0 start. The Raiders have strengths that match up well with the Texans but the Texans need to win this game to stay even in their division. They got embarrassed by the Cowboys in their own stadium and need to come out of the gates with a vengeance in week 4. They need to take all of their frustration from the Dallas game out on the Raiders and dominate them in all phases of the game. They need to get back into the winning column if they want to keep the public opinion that they are a good team this year.
Texans Suffer Disappointing Loss to Cowboys
The Texans lost to the Cowboys today in a game where they just couldn’t seem to get it going. They looked good on offense at the start of drives but couldn’t finish them off. Dallas exploited Houston’s secondary with passes to Roy Williams and Jason Witten. The Texans couldn’t get any pressure on Tony Romo and as a result they got picked apart in the passing game for a third straight week. At this rate the Texans are going to set a new record for passing yards allowed in a season. Something must be done to shore up this secondary. Kubiak is starting a rookie Kareem Jackson on one side and a 2nd year undersized corner on the other side with an undersized 2nd year player at nickel. Its just embarrassing to see veteran QB’s like Romo, McNabb and Manning play pitch and catch with their receivers against these clueless corners. The Texans have to sign a veteran or trade for a good corner or something. Its just disgusting. On the positive side Arian Foster rushed for over 100 yards on the day and looked pretty solid against Dallas’ defense. The biggest problem with the Texans on offense though is their offensive line. They couldn’t protect Schaub against the Cowboy’s pass rush and they couldn’t get enough push to get a single yard when they had 3 tries on the 1 yard line. If the Texans continue to use smallish offensive linemen they will continue to get bullied at the line of scrimmage by larger, stronger defensive fronts that teams like Dallas, Baltimore and the Jets have. Its sad to see your team one yard away from scoring a TD and cutting the lead to 7 and they can’t do it with 4 tries. Its just sad. The Texans got whooped today and they deserved to lose with a performance like that. I hope this is a wake up call to them to get their s*** straight against Oakland next week.[picappgallerysingle id="9858188"]
Cowboys Outside Linebacker DeMarcus Ware destroyed the Texans offensive line and sacked Matt Schaub 3 times in the Cowboys win
The Best Team in Texas
This weekend the Texans will take on the Dallas Cowboys at home in Reliant Stadium. The Texans are off to a 2-0 start for only the 2nd time in team history and on Sunday they will look to move to 3-0 for the first time ever against America’s team, which is currently 0-2. Last week the Texans won one of the most thrilling football games I’ve ever seen in my life against the Washington Redskins in overtime. The Texan’s star players shined bright in the game; Mario Williams absolutely dominated, sacking Donovan McNabb 3 times and providing strong support against the run, Matt Schaub threw for a franchise and career record 497 yards and 3 TD’s and Andre Johnson turned in the most spectacular play of the game on 4th and 10 when the Texans were down 7 points on a 34 yard Touchdown in the endzone over Redskins’ safety Reed Dougthy. Arian Foster did not have a huge game but Kevin Walter picked up some of the slack in the passing game with 11 catches for 144 yards and a TD.
The Cowboys are fearing for their lives right now staring 0-3 in the face. Reliant stadium is going to be jam packed with football fans from all across Texas to see which pro team will win in this head to head battle. The Cowboys are up against a corner and the Texans need to deliver a knockout blow to their season by dropping them down to 0-3. The Texans have had their most important game of the season for 3 week straight now. Don’t ask me how that makes any sense, it just does. If the Texans want to prove that they are the best team in Texas they HAVE to beat the Cowboys at home just as they HAD to beat the Colts at home and HAD to beat the Redskins just to justify their win against the Colts. The Texans need to run the football to neutralize DeMarcus Ware and the Dallas pass rush to set up the play action pass to exploit their secondary. Schaub needs to make good decisions with the football and not turn it over, the defense needs to get in Romo’s face and play much better against the pass than they did last week if they want to win. So far the Texans defense has given up almost 1,000 yards passing in 2 games and have only allowed 62 total rushing yards.
This is a huge game for Kubiak; he needs to prove that this team is for real in front of the thousands and thousands of people who will be watching. You know its a big game when tickets that usually cost 75-80 dollars are going for 200-500 dollars each. I know, its ridiculous. I tried to get tickets for this game and I haven’t been able to find a single ticket for sale less than $225. The most expensive ticket I’ve seen for this game was a 2nd row, 50 yard line ticket going for $1,350 and I wouldn’t be surprised if some really rich football fan from Dallas or some random place in Texas buys it. I’ll be comfortably sitting on the couch watching this game with just as much anticipation as I watched the last two Texans games with. The Texans have to win this game. They just have to. I hate the Cowboys.
Texans Beat Redskins 30-27 in OT
I can’t explain the feelings I went through while watching this game. So watch these videos of me during the game. It was amazing.
I know this is NFL video footage and I’m not supposed to post it but I am simply depicting a fans’ excited reaction to a live game. I love football, I’m sorry I can’t help it.
Texans sign Adewale Ogunleye
Texan’s 2009 2nd round pick defensive end Connor Barwin suffered a season ending ankle injury in the win against the Colts last Sunday. Barwin showed huge potential in his rookie season and the coaches love his work ethic so they were very disappointed to see him carted off the field in the first game of the season. But the NFL is a business and the show must go on so the Texans signed 10 year veteran Adewale Ogunleye this week to play defensive end in place of Barwin. Ogunleye, who played the last 6 seasons with the Bears, helped Chicago get to the Super Bowl in 2007 and has had two seasons of over 10 sacks. His veteran presence will certainly benefit the Texan’s defense, which looked very good against Indianapolis. Although Barwin wasn’t a starter, he saw the field a lot on 3rd downs and pass rushing situations. His role of situational pass rusher will likely be filled by Ogunleye and 2nd year defensive end Jesse Nading.
[picappgallerysingle id="6960297"]Ogunleye will provide a boost to the Texan’s D-Line in pass rushing situations. Connor Barwin’s injury will likely force Ogunleye into early duty, as early as this Sunday against the Redskins.
